Open to all options on 10-yr bond issues: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is open to all options regarding the issue of 10-year benchmark bonds in 2010/11 that begins in April, RBI Deputy Governor Shyamala Gopinath said.

“We are open to all options. We don’t want to talk about it now, we will decide when the calendar will be announced,” she said when asked if the bank would issue bonds maturing in 2020 or 2021, and added that “FRBs (floating rate bonds) are indicated”.

Finance ministry and central bank officials will meet on March 29 to decide on the borrowing calendar for the first half of 2010/11.
