The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has constituted a core committee to examine the suggestions on the direct taxes code. The suggestions are being invited through the cadre-controlling chief commissioners of income tax (CCIT) and also directly from officers. The core committee comprises commissioners of income tax and joint secretary rank officers dealing with various policy and administration related aspects of the existing income tax law.
All suggestions, both from the public and officers, will have to be received by the core committee by September 10. After this, a draft based on the suggestions and their studies will be prepared by the core committee by September 15. This will be forwarded to the full board of CBDT. The final suggestions as approved by the full board will be placed before the Finance Minister.
